A simply striking late 19th century Arts & Crafts open display bookcase, circa 1890s. Constructed in oak and crafted very much in the manner of the Glasgow school of art and design. From the top the arched pediment lined with blind fretwork detail and carved botanical motif. The beautifully shaped and curved sides flow into and form the outline raised leg structure. These in turn flank an arrangement of uncomplicated fixed shelving that give the whole piece a wonderful sense of balance which is easy on the eye. A perfect match of aesthetics and design.
Rich in colour and in grain with lighter shades of honey oak showing through the darker tones.
Condition: Wear is commensurate to its age. Solid robust and fully functional. Sits very well. Some wear to back leg. Sparce and historic worm confined to bottom, underside has been treated as a precautionary measure.
