Globe Wernicke oak Barristers/Library stacking bookcase. circa 1910, with typical lift and slide glass doors. Comes with original fittings and makers plaques. This type of bookcase was often referred to as a Barristers bookcase and advertised as “Always complete but never finished” due to the variations that could be achieved by adding or taking away sections. This particular version splits down into four stacking sections ( 2 display cases, a plinth base and a top section) that fit snugly and seamlessly into or onto the next. One of the bookcases is the rarer lockable type that still retains its key. Some inactive worm, confined to the to the back panel. Beautiful solid piece!
