Rare and unusual original Thonet rocking chair with wonderfully shaped armrests, a feature which is extremely hard to find. (Childs variation shown in the V&A Museum). This late 19th, early 20th century bentwood model has been very fondly looked after hence the super and tight condition of the caning to the seat and back rest which shows no signs of sagging. The ‘Thonet’ makers label, remarkably still attached to the underside seating, which makes this a truly authentic piece. Beautiful !!!
For anyone unfamiliar with “Thonet”, Michael Thonet was a German-Austrian cabinet maker, known for the invention of bentwood furniture.
