An interior Piece with Edge! - Absolute Gem!

A superb example of a small, early to mid 20th Century industrial trolley or cart, crafted by the iconic and historical SLINGSBY firm of London & Bradford. Circa 1930s.

With lovely small proportions, this substantially built trolley cart was constructed for the purpose of manoeuvring gold and silver bullion in banks and safe houses, which is the most wonderful story in itself.

The main body crafted with dense, neat pine planking encased or wrapped in a heavy gauge steel coated brass banding. The fact that both original Bakelite recessed nameplates still exist is an additional benefit and such a lovely touch.

Raised on a small twin axle, the four cast wheels, with each proudly displaying the embellished (raised lettering) ‘Slingsby’ name. Each cast wheel, encased in solid rubber for noise reduction and ease of portability.

The cart is steered or moved by means of its ‘T’ shaped pulling arm that is attached to the front turntable that guide the wheels.

A gorgeous and characterful vintage cart or trolley, displaying an enviable patina, in great strong order. The aesthetics here are matched by its versatility and function. Comes waxed and sealed to retain its natural beauty. (The planks sympathetically cleaned prior to waxing) The underside wheel mechanism all clean and good to go!

The desirable size and construction lends itself very well to a number of interior room settings and situations.

Condition: Strong, robust and fully functional. Wear commensurate with age and use. Dings, marks or scars associated with a vintage working piece. Photos sum up nicely. Overall superb order!
