19th Century Victorian Library Reading Table Stand By Carters
A 19th century Victorian ‘Library Literary Machine’ Patented by Carters of London, with an exceptional cast iron adjustable height and angle mechanism that allows for all reading positions. Constructed in mahogany the top incorporates two opposing hinged panels that lift and and position into a simple ratcheted system that allows for books, menu’s papers etc to be displayed or read from both sides or one side. All raised on a substantial and beautifully crafted ring turned single pedestal and base with ceramic/porcelain castors.
It’s build quality and striking looks mean it will sit equally as comfortable within a residential or hospitality setting.
Condition: Solid, robust and fully functional. A lovely patination with dings, dents or scars associated with a good working piece furniture.
